Raw Chocolate and Coconut Tarts

This is a fabulous tart that is vegan, full of fruit, nuts and healthy ingredients, and is very easy to make. This recipe gives you instructions on how to make tart bases and chocolate sauce, so you can use these in other recipes or simply add the chocolate sauce to your favourite vegan ice cream!


  • 2 cups raw mixed nuts
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 tbs coconut oil
  • 1 tbs water
  • 1 cup dates
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
  • 4 tbs cacao
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tin cold coconut cream
  • 1/2 cup date paste
  • 2 cups chopped strawberries
  • Garnishes, such as shredded coconut


  • Grease 8 small tart tins or 1 large tart tin with coconut oil
  • To make the tart base, blitz nuts, raisins, oil and water in a food processor until mixture comes together
  • Press into prepared tins and place into the fridge to set
  • To make chocolate sauce, blitz dates and coconut milk in a food processor until smooth
  • Pour mixture into a saucepan and heat over a low flame for a 3 minutes (if you want it to be completely raw, do not heat the mixture)
  • Add cacao and vanilla and cook for a further 2 minutes
  • Remove from heat and place in the fridge to cool and thicken
  • Beat coconut cream until it starts to thicken, then place in the fridge to set
  • To assemble tarts, spread date paste at the bottom of each tart base, followed by strawberries, chocolate sauce and piped coconut cream
  • Top with garnishes of your choice and enjoy!
